With that said, for the forums, there is more information under 'Announcements" titled "Future of the Forums' you could also copy and paste this link: http://www.trabantforums.com/threads/future-of-the-forums-donations.1762/

    I'm Gill from Nieuwrode, Belgium.

    I have 2 601 S Universal

    One is a 601 S, saved from a guy that wanted to make a lawn mower off it :)

    It's lowered, has an adjusted exhaust, 4x100 , brakedisk on front

    The other one is a Hycomat is still have to do some work on. It's going to remain fully stock. I got it out of a garage that was blocked for 20 years. They previous owner parked it there when he went after the wende from DDR to Belgium.

    That's a cool about finding a Trabant that had been locked away in a garage for 20+ years that couldn't get out! Is that the photo of the car in the garage it sat it for all those years?

    And Welcome!

    You can buy ready kits on trabant welt but mine is a mix:

    * 4x100 fron brake calipers with disks from a mk2 1600
    * adaptor for the caliper
    * back brake drums with new plate and drilled to 4x100
    * brake master of an old beetle rewelded to fit as i didnt have enough pressure on the brakes.

    Upfront still a 20mm adaptor as almost no rims didnt fit anymore with the front leafsprings.

    I found that e21 steel rims do fit tou see them a lot on converted racing trabies
