  2. I have received a lot of messages asking about the future of the forums once my car sells. Well today it sold and will soon be on its way to its new home. With that said, for the forums, there is more information under 'Announcements" titled "Future of the Forums' you could also copy and paste this link: http://www.trabantforums.com/threads/future-of-the-forums-donations.1762/

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum and a proud new owner of a 1966 P601. At least I think it is. The title says its a '66 and I have original DDR paperwork showing continuous ownership since '66, but according to the serial numbers list online it's a '68. Not that it much matters. :) It's a bit of a basket case, but I hope to take my time with her and do all the work myself. My own little slice of communist engineering.

Hi folks. When I posted my original message I didn't realize this was such an active forum. I apologize for never responding to the request for pictures after my original post. I am just now coming back to the forum doing some research and now that I see how active it is I plan on visiting much more often. I have attempted to attach a photo from the day I bought it in August 2015. As you can see, its not the best example. But it looks quite a bit different now. I will post an updated pic soon.

  10. Hi! I'm from California and I am planning (Maybe) to get one in two years.I just have one question,is it possible to engine swap a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 sedan's engine into a trabant? It'll be like a hot rod version. :)

    Hi Enrich! Welcome from Chicago.

Usually, you would start your own welcome thread.
But in answer to your question, it would take a great deal of effort to put that large of a motor in a Trabant, and it would seriously increase the weight. A Trabi motor has only 2 cylinders, weighs only about 50kg and has no external cooling system.
  12. So that's why there are only things like the hayabusa trabant because it is a motorcycle engine? Okay I understand

It's possible to fit almost any engine in any car if you have enough time, money and skill it's not always worth the effort, time or money though
